Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the AventoLinks platform available at aventolinkshub.com (the "Service"), operated by AventoLinks ("we", "us", "our"). By creating an account or otherwise using the Service you agree to these Terms.
1. Who can use the Service
You must be at least 18 years old to register an account. If you register on behalf of an organization, you confirm that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms. Supervisor accounts require you to be a PhD holder or a current PhD candidate.
2. Accounts
You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide, for keeping your password confidential, and for all activity that happens under your account. You must notify us at info@aventolinkshub.com if you suspect any unauthorized use.
Researcher and supervisor accounts are activated after an administrator reviews your profile. Organization accounts are activated automatically at signup. We may suspend or close any account that violates these Terms.
3. Challenges and applications
- Organizations may submit challenges (business or research problems) through the platform. Submissions are subject to admin review before being made available to researchers and supervisors.
- Researchers and supervisors may apply to open challenges. All assignments to challenges are decided by AventoLinks admins.
- You agree not to submit content that infringes any third party's intellectual property, violates any law, or contains malicious code.
4. Roles and responsibilities
- Organizations are responsible for the accuracy and completeness of challenge briefs and any compensation, budgets, or timelines they publish.
- Researchers and supervisors assigned to a challenge are responsible for the quality and delivery of the work they commit to, and for posting timely progress updates through the portal.
- AventoLinks facilitates the match, provides the platform, and mediates communication. We are not a party to the underlying engagement between an organization and its assigned team unless a separate written agreement says so.
5. Intellectual property
Ownership of any work produced under a challenge is governed by the agreement between the organization and the assigned team. In the absence of such an agreement, the organization owns the deliverables specifically funded by them, and the assigned researchers / supervisors retain rights to their pre-existing know-how and general techniques.
The AventoLinks name, logo, platform code, and content produced by us are our property and may not be copied or reused without written permission.
6. Fees and compensation
Compensation between organizations and their assigned researchers / supervisors is agreed separately and settled off-platform unless AventoLinks explicitly offers an in-platform payment feature (not offered at the date of these Terms). Any commissions or platform fees payable to AventoLinks will be communicated in writing before the engagement begins.
7. Communication
You agree to receive transactional emails necessary for the operation of your account (application decisions, project updates, security notices, admin messages). You may also opt in to periodic announcements; each announcement includes an unsubscribe address.
8. Prohibited use
You agree not to:
- Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation.
- Contact platform users off-platform to circumvent an assignment or the admin review process.
- Post defamatory, obscene, or unlawful content.
- Attempt to breach, probe, or interfere with the security of the Service.
- Use automated scripts (bots, scrapers) without written permission.
9. Confidentiality
Challenges submitted with a "confidential" flag, and any non-public information shared during a project, must be treated as confidential by everyone on the team and by AventoLinks staff, and may not be disclosed outside the project without the organization's permission.
10. Disclaimer
The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. AventoLinks makes no warranties, express or implied, about the fitness of any particular researcher or supervisor for a specific project, or about the outcome of any engagement facilitated through the platform. Organizations are responsible for their own due diligence.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by Nigerian law, AventoLinks is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including lost profits, lost data, or business interruption. Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of these Terms is limited to the greater of (a) fees you have paid to AventoLinks in the twelve months preceding the claim or (b) ten thousand naira (₦10,000).
12. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold AventoLinks harmless from claims brought by third parties arising out of your breach of these Terms, your unlawful conduct on the platform, or your infringement of another party's rights.
13. Termination
You may close your account at any time by contacting info@aventolinkshub.com. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, on notice by email to your registered address. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (Intellectual Property, Confidentiality, Disclaimer, Limitation of Liability, Indemnity, Governing Law) will survive.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any dispute arising under these Terms will be resolved by the courts sitting in Oyo State, Nigeria, without prejudice to any statutory consumer protection you may enjoy.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may amend these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent version. Material changes will be announced by email to your registered address. Continued use of the Service after the notice period constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
